Mental Health : How Do You Deal With Well Intentioned People Offering Advice On How To Cure Depression
I find a lot of people offer me advice to help me overcome my severe depression. It is well intentioned, but I find it a bit annoying because no one really understands the severity of my depression. How can I explain to people that this is more than just feeling a bit down and I can't just 'snap out if it'? ~~~ Laenaeish ~~~
Mental Health : How Do People Manage To Hang Themselves By Tying Bedsheets Together
The tightening around the adams apple makes it impossible to swallow and it must be aborted. How do you hang successfully? Damian - They must somehow be unconscious because the swallowing reflex is very strong No welshman I don't find it amusing at all. I have suffered with schizophrenia and personality disorders for years seen as you want to know. I have tried all the tablets that psychiatry can throw at me. I have had ECT. IT has done nothing for me. I am fed up of psychiatry. I have felt suicidal day after day for years. I have had a few suicide attempts. I swallowed 84 tablets and it was not a cry for help. I was left with paralysis of both my arms till I had two operations. Anything more you need to know before you stop calling me a troll. I wanted facts without the usual - call this number, get help sort of thing so I did not say I was suicidal. Thank you. Sorry to hear you've been through so much. It annoys me when people say "you must take your medication - it works wonders for me", when they have no effect on me (and you by the sound of it). You feel doubly hopeless because you are not of the class of people who it helps so much and the only answer you get from people is keep taking them. Only you know what you are going through and whether they help or not, and psychiatrists and family think they know better than your inner being. ~~~ nomad442 ~~~

Mental Health : What Job Would You Recommend For A Friend Of Mine Who Is Recovering From A Nervous Breakdown
He hasn't worked for a couple of years, but has recently started voluntary work with a wildlife trust. He wants something outdoors, he is physically fit, but his social skills aren't too good, he really only feels comfortable around people he trusts, so he would prefer something that doesn't involve contact with people too much. I've tried to think of something to help him, but I'm really stuck. All help is appreciated, thanks. BTW he lives in Dorset. ~~~ Bum Gravy. ~~~
Mental Health : Whats The Difference Between A Mixed Bipolar State And Depression With Extreme Anxiety
Seagull - do a bit of research into bipolar disorder before you judge it. Bipolar is only "another word for depression" if you think that mania is completely normal and not part of an illness at all. I asked this question because I'm bipolar, and I'm experiencing some odd syptoms - feeling depressed but also shaky and energetic, with racing thoughts, and I'm not sure if it's a mixed state or anxiety. ~~~ laurarara ~~~

Mental Health : How Can I Cope With Depression And The Death Of A Family Member
I'm suffering from severe depression at the moment, so I'm not in the best place anyway. My husbands Gran has got terminal cancer and isn't expected to be around much longer. We've arranged to visit this weekend, and I'm dreading it. I've never lost anyone before, and I've never had any contact with someone with a terminal illness. I've no idea how I'm going to cope with this and I'm worried I'll just make it worse. It also means seeing his extended family, and I suffer from social anxiety. Is it selfish of me to stay at home? Should I force myself to go? Am I likely to make things worse for either them or me? My husband has said I don't have to go if I don't feel up to it, but I feel I should. ~~~ Laenaeish ~~~
