Teen Preteen : How Do You Get A 12 Year Old To Shower Regularly
My daughter is years old and it is a daily struggle to get her to remember to take a shower. She has ADHD and is developmentally slow(functioning at about a 9-10 year old level). I don't know how much this is affecting her but she just doesn't care. If we remind her she screams at us not to treat her like a baby, and if we don't remind her she screams at us why didn't you remind me. Now she has started swimming lessons so she always has chlorine in her hair and needs to wash it more often. She says oh I used the shower at the pool, but didn't actually wash it just rinsed it out. I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. I've even went so far as to let her shower when she wants and hoped that the kids at school would say something to her, and they did, but she just ignored them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I have had her teachers at school talk to her specifically and the whole class about personal hygiene, twice. I also meant to say she has ADHD AND a developmental delay. ~~~ Here I am.
