Baseball : If You Believe In Democracy Then You Are Hypocrital To Call Question Barry Bonds Accomplishmentsright
Innocent until proven guilty is a key part of US law so anyone who feels that they deserve that freedom and value the rights given to all Americans have to give the same rights to Barry Bonds or else they are hypocrital. Bonds has never been charged with or been convicted of any illegal drug use and therefore is innocent until proven guilty. Sure, he MAY have done it, and yes he is kind of a prick. But he is an amazing athlete with incredible judgement at the plate. He stole bases and hit HR in Pittsburgh at 185 lbs and shared the genes of his HOF father so his talent is unquestionable. Like him or not he will be the HR king until possibly A-Rod breaks it so celebrate if you like him and don't if you dislike him but please don't accuse him of something that has not been proven despite all of the investigation into the matter. It is a matter of freedom. jft...Bonds never admitted to any steroid use. You need to get your facts straight or post your source. Here is what Bonds said... The San Francisco Chronicle newspaper reports that transcripts from Bonds' testimony show he told the grand jury that Greg Anderson, his personal trainer, told him in 2003 the substances were flaxseed oil and a rubbing balm for arthritis. So you see, Bonds was never told he was taking steroids and there is no proof of it either. Remember to get your facts straight...nice try tho. ~~~ CAnderson ~~~

I agree with you. But to speak on behalf of the YA sheep, the bandwagon gets you where you need to be real fast. It's soooo much easier to jump on the bandwagon [without proof, logical reasoning, etc], than it is to look at stats and growth and make your own deductions.

Answer 1I agree with you. But to speak on behalf of the YA sheep, the bandwagon gets you where you need to be real fast. It's soooo much easier to jump on the bandwagon [without proof, logical reasoning, etc], than it is to look at stats and growth and make your own deductions.
Answer 2Well considering he admitted to using a cream that had steroids in it I would put that in the guilty category...nice try though.
Answer 3If he hadn't actually admitted to the steroid cream, I'd agree with you. But I'd take it a step further. Players like Michael Vick should also be playing instead of missing most of a season under the came precept you are using.
Answer 4Innocent until proven guilty is a legal term, not an ethical one. We don't have to wait for a positive drug test or a court finding for discipline or social pressure to let someone know that what they did was wrong. Turn the equation you state around- without a guilty verdict any conduct is right! If you believe that than society is even more depraved than I thought.
Answer 5Who admitted to taking "the cream" and "the clear" in court? He also said he never knowingly used steroids. Answer this. How does someones head grow 1 size and shoe grow 3 sizes at age 34? Didn't he fail an amphetamines test? ./mlb/news/story?id=2727325
Answer 6Given he has always said he didn't "knowingly" take steriods, and read the book 'game of shadows' his grand jury testimony is basically admitting he used steriods, but didn't know about it. HENCE THE PERJURY CHARGE The Gov't believe that his claim to the grand jury he didn't know about it, was a lie. For the legal procedings, the fact he took steriods is not under debate. He did.
Answer 7Bonds did admit to taking something "unknowingly", which is total bull, cause u know if ur taking something illegal. Man, do u have some time on ur hands.
Answer 8Democracy like the decision to go into Iraq?? He didn't tell the public that he took a cream, he told the grand jury and it was leaked. Also when he tried to hush the SF Cronicle article, he tried to do based on grand jury testimony, NOT libel. Also, if 'law' democracy worked liked baseball, then you would throw out all the rules anyway. They announce drug tests well in advance. It's a wonder they have caught anyone. Does your US law tell companies in advance when they are going to storm them. Do they give 3 weeks notice when they are going to infiltrate a gang? So, I think you are hypocritical to draw comparisons to unlike things. You may as well simply post "I like what Bonds has done" and leave it at that, instead of trying to piece together your viewpoint with something ELSE that doesn't work. Remember, US law also allowed for slavery at one point.
Answer 9Sure, and we believe that he "didn't know"......give us a break...just like Sammy Sousa didn't know there was cork in his bat right? You will always have those who think they can bilk the system and get away with it. And they shouldn't even be considered to play ball anymore never mind qualify for records.
Answer 10Hey Anderson, for someone who's so tight on getting the facts straight, Bobby Bonds is NOT in the Hall of Fame.
Answer 11WRONG... Another part of our democratic society is having a right to our own opinions. We can question Barry's ballooning head size and going from beanpole-to-behemoth all we want. There is a right to free speech in this country too. What would be hypocritical is erasing Bonds' records without any legal proof of his use of performance enhancing drugs. My opinion is that proof will come soon enough.
Answer 12You see your significant other one day in the company of another person in a fancy restaurant. You decide to follow them and they go to the other person's house. You can see them through the bedroom window. The light goes out and you cannot see anything. An hour later, your SO emerges from the front door tucking his/her shirt in and sporting hair that is very messed up. Of course, you have no proof they were cheating.
Answer 13He isn't innocent of racism. Ask Ron Kittle. When Kittle organized an auction for a kid's cause and asked Bonds to sign a jersey, the reply was, "I don't sign autographs for white ; I don't consider anyone else in baseball who is black a racist. Sheffield's comments are backed by stats and the other comments I've heard do not necessarily constitute racism, but surely Bonds' do. I'm so tired of the McEnroe, Barkley, Bonds, and Rose types being such negative and types. A lot of kids impersonate them. The steroids issue just makes Bonds even more repulsive to me.
