Answer 2All they have to do is get one of 4 playoff spots, and then anything can happen. Their division is not as tough as others, which is good for them, easier to make it to the big dance. Why shouldn't Cubs fans be excited about that? They have a decent chance this year. And there hasn't even been any spring games played yet, so it sounds like you're just a Cubs hater.

The Cubs are and will always be "not-so-lovable" losers. They showed last year in the playoffs what kind of team they are.... extremely average poorly managed.

Answer 9Normally I'm against the Cubs, but in this case, I'll defend them and their fans (I have a lot of respect anyways for their fans who haven't had a WS win in 99 years). When your team hasn't won a WS in so long, you take anything to hold on to, to give you some hope. And if their in the easiest division, it makes it easy for all of the teams in the division. The goal is just to make it to the playoffs so it doesn't matter. As for spring training, that just started and as somebody pointed out earlier, they have some injuries going on. So give them a break.
Answer 10Cubs fans need to stop boasting about how great the Cubs are going to be this year. With an extremely upgraded Astros team (Return of Backe, signing of ever inconsistent Chacon and Brocail, the signing of new third baseman Ty Wigginton and solid backup Geoff Blum, the Miguel Tejada trade, as well as the Kaz Matsui signing) in the NL Central as well as the tandem of young, fiery and energetic Reds and Brewers teams, this season will be anything but a cake walk for the Cubs. The Cubs by far have the best pitching in that division and pitching wins in baseball, so I feel the cubs are going to pull out a division win. It is very, very early though and anything could happen (Derrek Lee on the DL again, inconsistent Zambrano, ST injuries, etc.). ST is just beginning and players are still working themselves into game shape. Teams play A B games at this stage to work up arm strength and hitting.

They have a good pitching staff, something alot of teams need, and they have a good offense, another thing other teams need, and the other teams in the central are still struggling with alot of thie issues that the Cubs are striving in.
Answer 13Maybe we have some crappy teams in our division (ahem, Pirates) but we've also got some teams that are usually pretty good (this is the only time I'll pay tribute to the Cardinals). I would also like to take this opportunity to point out that we have more teams than any other division so an NL Central team only has a 1 in 6 chance to make it into the playoffs whereas the other divisions have a 1 in 5, and the AL West has a 1 in 4. I've been following the Cubs like crazy in spring training and haven't heard anything about them "not doing so well". Sounds like you're just a hater. Get a hobby.

Answer 16Nothing is easy in any division and it will take a strong team to win each of the six divisions. The Cubs have been improving the past few years and have reached a level where they are a legitimate contender.
Answer 17As a Cubs fan, I refer to a recent season - 2003. We ended 88-74, worst among playoff teams, and came SOOO close to going to the World Series. We were underdogs. We didn't go very far, but hey, we made it to the NLCS and should have won.
