Dancing : How Can I Strengthen My Ankles Before Starting Ballet
Im starting ballet on May 19 and i want to stregthen my ankles. Everytime I [for example] try to reach for something and stand on the balls of my feet, my ankles crack. I think this means my ankles are weak. Are there any stretches i can do to make them stronger before i start ballet in a month? ~~~ Confused~Girl ~~~

you should do a lot of releves and eleves to strengthen your ankles. also, you should sit with your legs straight on the floor an just keep moving your feet up and down using your ankles, and not legs. Happy Dancing!

i broke my ankle recently. to restrengthen it you put a heating pad on it for 2 minutes, then you point your toe , and move just your ankle up and down, from ceiling to floor ( dont move your whole foot, really use your ankle) then move your ankle in circles , going towards the left, then towards the right, these work better if you do them one leg at a time

Please trust your ballet teacher...whatever your teacher asks you to do, you should do. This person is in the best position to evaluate your ankles as well as your turn-out, so let their decision guide you. Good luck!

you should roll ur ankles round in circles 2 warm them up, u cant do it standing up or sitting down! after about 30 secs each way on each foot, then try standing up on ur toes i had the same problem, but now im in the australian natinal ballet! good luck :D

If you think theres a serious problem with your ankles Id reccomend a visit to the physiotherapist. Ive twisted my ankle a fair few times so I went to see the physio to see if I had a problem. Turns out if I didnt do anything about it Id end up seriously disfiguring my entire leg. Try going for a run, then have a really warm shower and twist your ankles around and go on the balls of your feet, if their still cracking see someone.

You have to hold on to an object similar to the barre and flex your foot and then pointe your foot 10-15 times a week!

Just because your ankles crack doesnt mean theyre weak, but to strengthen them you can do lots of releves and eleves.
