Dancing : I Am Trying To Get Into Beginning Ballet At 16 How Should I Get Physicaly Ready

I am in the process of trying to get into a beginner ballet class. I have to admit I have no dance experience and am not in good shape. What can I do before I start classes to get ready, or at least in better shape? And what sort of clothing is appropriate for beginning ballet? its winter here ! Not the best conditions to start running in! ( thanks for advice though!) What should I wear for foot wear at my first class? ~~~ Ulyana ~~~

ok the first day of ballet is gna brutal for u. when u go into the studio look around to c wat everyone is wearing. i sugest u start strching ur mucles every either night or morning. it will prepare u for the intense streching ballerinas do. u should probally grab ur ipod and go for a run to get in better shape. running alao helps strech most of your neck, leg, and shoulder mucles. i hope u like ballet!! hav a nice weekend and dont forget to strech!! :)
