Answer 6i have a pupy right now, 3 months it will take 6 months for the puppy to be able to control its bladder so heres my tip set a time twice a day for the puppy to eat after foutry five minutes after eating, take the puppy out to poop, and it will because it took 45 minutes for hte puppy to digest the food for peeing, moniter when the puppy drinks water, and take the puppy out 5 to 15 minutes after the puppy has drank some water, do this for six months, and u will have no mess in the house
Answer 7i say about two months dending on the puppy.
Answer 8Both those dogs are smart and it shouldn't take long if you keep at it.
Answer 9Like with people, it depends on the dog how long it takes for him to learn. 2 1/2 months is very young- my puppy is 4 months old and he is still catching on. It can take some dogs up to 3-6 months to be completely reliable. Don't judge from other people's experiences. The most important thing I have learned is not to scold when he makes a mistake- just praise him when he does it right. If you catch him in the act, pick him up and bring him calmly to his potty spot and then praise him. NEVER punish him for making a mistake- essentially, you are to blame for not taking him out or to his potty spot frequently enough. He is only a baby and should be treated as such. Remember, a small puppy has a small bladder. He is not peeing in the wrong place to make you angry- he just can't help it! As he gets older he will have better control.
Answer 10A puppy does not have full bladder/bowel control until 6 months of age. Right now, your puppy needs to be taken out every 2 hours around the clock, and every time he wakes up, after he eats, and after he plays. You may also need to interupt play time, as many times the puppy will be very excited and not realize he needs to go until he actually goes. Look for signs that the pup needs to potty, such as sniffing the ground, circling, hunching it's back end, worried look on face, whining. Take the puppy out immediately. You may want to let the dog "relieve" himself a few times before bringing him back indoors. A lot of times, their bladder is not fully empty with one pee, and sometimes they needs to walk a little in order to go poop. You can also crate train. That is a great way to house train a dog.
Answer 11All dogs are different, the same as humans. But normally, a dog will learn the difference between inside and outside and where to potty and where not to potty. At ten weeks, your puppy should be able to grasp the understanding of potty training. Some tips: 1. Always be firm and unchanging in your discipline. Don't praise him for peeing on your front step if the idea of him doing it for the rest of his life is unsettling for you. 2. Start a routine and stick with it. A puppy will get used to going at 2, 4, 6, and before bedtime. If there is a moment when you can't be there to take him out, take him out as soon as you get home, before you put away the frozen pizza or soda. 3. Crating is the best method. Buy a pet carrier that is large enough for the puppy to move around in but not too large to where they can potty in the corner of the crate without it bothering them. Keep them in the crate when you can't supervise them but remember to keep your routine. When you take them out, do not let their feet touch your floor, take them straight outside. Stay with them until they potty. When they come back in, they can play and eat as long as you are with them. Make sure to put them back in the crate if you can't pay attention to them. They may cry and beg to be let out, but remember, if you can't watch them, they can't play. If you follow these, you should have a well trained puppy within a week. I have never had a dog that didn't catch on after three days.
Answer 12It may take a couple weeks for the dog to get the hang of things, but they don't have full bladder control until they are over six months old.

Answer 16I've read all these responses, what I wonder is: If I want to try the timing method (. 15 min after he drinks) should I not provide water for him when I'm not around to monitor this? Sounds a bit cruel, but I won't assume either way until I hear from some of you.
