Finders do not give the recreational fisherman way better odds of catching does give them help but doesnt make them feed or bite!! Now for commercials it does help because of the style or methods they use to "catch" fish by encircling them with huge nets or finding spawning grounds with beds full of fish to drop their longs lines down the way these good spawing grounds are in deeper waters much to far out for the average sportfishing angler to reach but not the commercials. Pollution ones that got away who knows what you mean by that but pollution has played a hand in the loss of habitat which comes down to fewer fish!

If you are talking about commercial fishermen you might be on to something. However while Fish Finders might help sport fishermen locate the fish, they still must figure out what bait the fish want to take and how to get them in the boat. Knowing where the fish are is no assurance you can get him to take your bait. "Could pollution contribute to " ones that got away " stories?" Ive no idea what you are talking about. Sure pollution has resulted in fish-kills and reduced population, but Ive never heard of fish becoming stronger or smarter because of pollution. Doc

Electronics have definitely took a big chunk out of the fish population. I went fishing on a headboat in Massachusetts and the captain went 22 miles out to Jeffreys Ledge and scanned the bottom with his fish finder. Within minutes, he found the fish image on his radar and we were right into codfish. In the long run, however, this is going to hurt everyone involved. The fish dont have a chance anymore.

with the catch limits of most areas, the recreation fishermen can not harm the stock. its the commercial haulers with huge nets that are the culprits. in my area the menhaden seiners haul tons that is used for dog food and fertilizer. the politicans in the state legislater dont have the guts to stop them.

Personally, I do not think so. When I use mine it be strictly for terrain and structures below the surface and not for the fish themselves. One exception would be fishin for Crappie ~ they run in schools ;)... lt; (( ( gt; lt;
