Football American : What If Bowl Games Were Played In The Snow And Mud
The fact that the Big Ten has to play in the home region, state, and sometimes stadium of the SEC, Pac Ten, and Big 12 in bowls might have something to do with the Big Ten's struggles. I find it amusing that the west and south have teams and philosophies built for warm weather and brag that they win at home in warm weather. Would Florida have beat OSU at Soldier Field? Doubt it. I don't think that the SEC teams have Offences built for warm weather, so much as they don't have offenses built for bad weather. Arkasas and Alabama are grind em out style football teams. It's just that Florida is a team built on speed. Bowl Games shouldn't be decided by the weather. Bowl Games should be decided by one team enforcing it's will on another team. If your team has a hard nosed running style bolstered by great D, then they chould be able to win at Ford Field just as easily as they win at Soldier's Field. Although, this year, I don't think it matters where a Big Ten team plays. None of them are looking incredible. Granted, it's only a few weeks in, and PSU or OSU could start playing some lights out football, but up until now, the great teams are Oklahoma, West Virginia, LSU, and USC. Maybe Florida, but I am hesitant to be overjoyed at the game against Tennesse after how the Vols looked against Cal in week one.
