I intend to go overseas for about 2 weeks. How will my indoor plants survive while Im away. I am using plastic bottles filled with water to drip slowly. The problem is the water does not flow at all with one hole punctured. With another hole punctured at the top of the container the water just seeped off too fast. Anyone has a suggestion on how to make the water drip slowly like a drop at a time albeit the water is minimal for the plants? ~~~ alfootc ~~~

This is my vacation method... fill gallon (cleaned) milk jugs insert 100% cotton string with some coiled in the bottom of the jug (or bunched up) leave at least a 12" to 18" length hang outside the jug Put the plants in the bathtub set the jugs on the side or a short table (gravity flow)stick the end of the string under the soil. Make sure the string is saturated before you leave and the plants have been watered prior to this. I saw this on PBS and have used this method every time I leave for any period of time . The water is soaked into the cotton string and the gravity makes it go to the plant.

put trays of water under the plants, you know,set them in a tray of water and it will absorb what it needs daily. If they are indoors,make sure the heating is very low and if your using the AC,, make sure its just cool, not cold. Plants will survive in 80 degree weather.

there are specially designed pots that are called "spa" pots i think. and you pour water in at the bottom and it absorbs the water sufficient to the plants needs you can find em at Wal*Mart or ask at a nursery or something. Or ask the question on Yahoo!Answers. lol

Plastic spikes Step 1: Save as many 2 liter (or larger) plastic bottles as you have plants. If your like me you probably have one a day with teenagers in the house. You could put a smaller hole where the water comes out(pin size) or put your plants in pie plates and put a hole in the side of the neck of a plastic bottle(water will run into pie plate till it covers the hole then stop,kind of like a chicken waterer) then set your plant into the pie plate so that water is sucked up through the hole in the bottom of the plant pot (adjusting with spacers under plant pot).
