Just wondering if sticking a length plug at the end of the stick is good for the stick. If I grip up at the plug, will I lose any flex? Also, how do I do it? Im a tall dude, 64, so finding a stick can be a little hard, specially not living near any hockey stores. ~~~ ryman ~~~

Putting a extension plug is pretty easy. all you need to do is remove the plug at the top of the stick. With a extension there is already glue on it so if you have a eat gun u can put the heat gun up close to the glue and melt the glue all around the extension when u think its melted enough then put it in the top of the stick where you removed the plug. easy as that and if u dont have a heat gun Im shore a stove top would work . and i think with the extension it might give u a little more bend in the flex... good luck

The length plug is your only option sort of a custom stick, which may or not be possible depending on the company and such. It wont hurt the stick, and you should not lose any flex- the wood plug will flex a little too. Also, the flex in a composite is usually focused down low, so I would not worry about it. The plug will come with hot glue on the end normally. take a heat gun and heat up the end of the stick and the end of the plug with the glue. Insert plug into stick. youre done.

Adding the length should increase the flex. When you cut a stick, you decrease the flex so it would seem logical that lengthening it would increase it. A plug wont hurt your stick. Thats what they are made for.

You wont notice much, if any, reduction in the flexion of the stick. Since all the leverage is applied to the blade and mid-shaft section, a plug of almost any length at the butt end will have neglible effect. ps - are you making your own plug from an old wooden stick? Most plugs Ive seen are at most 8" long. If you are custom making one, make sure that you have a really consistent fit - when the plug is inserted, you should be able to slip a single thickness of paper between the plug and the shaft. Any more than that and the glue wont hold. If you have a very long plug, allow a couple extra inches to the section inside the shaft.

The plug wont hurt your stick at all. AS a matter of fact most NHL players customize their sticks short and put a wood plug in the end anyway. It deals with either the weight distribution or the vibration. Order them online if you are not near a hockey store. Like To do it take the end of the stick and with a heat gun or a hair dryer heat the end not in the same spot for too long or you will bubble the composite shaft. Next, heat the glue on the plug, sick it in, if it does not go in all the way continue to heat all around the shaft until it does. Thats it
