I have heard a rumour that someone who gets 9 penalty points in one year can get banned. This seems strange as I thought it had to be 12 before you could be banned. ~~~ andrewjohnlee1 ~~~

Answer 1There's nothing about it on the official website .uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/EndorsementsAndDisqualifications/DG_4022550 However you can of course be banned seperately to whatever points you have.
Answer 212 points is a bann but i know of someone who pled for his life so they gave him 12 points and didnt get banned.. i have 9
Answer 3Its 9. It is possible to have 12 on your license, but this is when the first 3 are kinda null, and then you get another 3 etc etc. If you play it just right you could continuously have 12-15 points on your license. Be foolish though.
Answer 4I am not talking from experience here but in the UK you have to amass 12 points over a 3 year period. Check this out on the net- In the UK, points are given for traffic offences, . typically three to six points for a speeding offence. Points remain on the licence for four years from conviction (eleven years for drink- and drug-related convictions) - twelve points on the licence within three years makes the driver liable to disqualification by a court, but not automatic disqualification.[1] Since the Road Traffic (New Drivers) Act in 1995, if a person in the two years after passing their first practical test accumulates six penalty points, their licence is revoked by the DVLA and the driver has to reapply and pay for the provisional licence, drive as a learner, and pay for and take the theory and practical tests before being allowed to drive on their own. In the case of egregious offences, the court may order the driver to pass an extended driving test before the licence is returned, even for people out of the two-year probation period.[2]
Answer 5Each jurisdiction has its own rules regarding banning of license, so what matters is what it is where you are. Since you didn't mention that in your question, no one will be able to tell you.
Answer 612
Answer 712 valid (. not expired) points leaves you open to disqualification, though not necessarily so, apart from drink-drive offences. Having said that, the court usually DOES issue a disqualification this level, and they can, if they see fit, remove your licence at ANY point. For new drivers, in the first two years after passing the test, 6 points gets you right back to square one, provisional status, L plates and all, until you pass the tests again.
Answer 8From what I know, after 12 points, your licence will get revoked.
Answer 9Generally you need to amass 12 points over a 3 year period and then you are disqualified under the totting up procedure for 6 months - you will then have a tt99 shown on the licence for 4 years but the points that led up to the tt99 will be wiped off and you start again. However, it is not an automatic disqualification and a judge can disqualify you for your first offence if he/she see fit.
Answer 10i think it depends on when you passeed your test. it used to be 12 points before you were banned but now a new driver in the first couple of years or so can be banned with 6 points.
