London : What The Best Places To Visit For A Musical Tourist In London

Visiting central london soon for a week, and I want to know what places (pubs, clubs, venues etc) you think I should visit for someone who is interested in music. Do you know any good places that sell bargain cds? Are there any places that play live music during the day? Any good places to hang out? Anything you can tell me will be appreciated. Also do you know any good places to stay that offer reasonable prices and opening hours for someone who wants to explore the night life. ~~~ Mason ~~~

camden town on the northern underground line is a great place for live music in pubs. its not unknown for quite well-known artistes like pete doherty and amy winehouse to make an appearance. there are also loads of places in camden market that sell cds and dvds, including rarities in all genres. altogether, camdens the place for a thriving music scene - nowhere else in london comes close. hope this is useful ... cant help on the accommodation front, though.

You could go to Berwick Street (SOho) off Oxford Street, has shops that sell old records at good prices... sort of hard to get hold of. There are a lot of shows and musicals in West End (picadilly and Leicester Square)

Berwick street in soho w1 for cds... DEF DEF camden and the sables markets the other side of the canal Go down to camden during the day and hang around the markets especailly the stabls one and you get lots of people who ill give you good answers. Also not a nightclub but centre of the trance scene Go for the up and comming synergy and antiworld (esp synergy) at SEONE venue. (go early slow q) The toilet is the size of a small club... It has 6 rooms each as big as major clubs and these events are more like a festival with markets, various music, cafes the works. /content/view/54/ Each of those large rooms is the size of one large nightclub example synergy Very good culture, very safe... hippy like in a way... You can try Whirley gig (nice but much smaller) see same site. .uk/ Novelty clubs include .uk Carwash being a 70s 80s club where you have to be dressed up (the more ott the better or in other fancy dress). Have to pre book too. Also they have a swimming pool and jacquzzi, lots of hen, stage, 18th ans 21st brithday groups Oh did I mention the pool? dress code there is simply not the main outfit... all else goes. ive seen swimware, underware, half of underwhere, either half, nude, making out in changing booths. sats... guess the dress code? 70s 80s 90s in Forum in Kentish Town (look up nightbusses to get home) For wilder events try .uk for mad backpackers club on a sunday afternoon... see the pictures. on the first sunday of the months... Jelly wrestle night... the girls see more of the guys as the girls in the pit play rough... poor dude dont stand a chance. yes the dress code is what you think it is... or lack of and is more grown up Rock and skatepunk/nu metal music used to be Camden Palace (now koko) then got taken over but have new night on sat comming up ... check out or rockscene at the dome in tufnel park (oppstation) plus .uk for tickets
