If it stops without finishing the cycle it usually indicates a bad timer my best guess without seeing it.

I had the same problem, and it wasnt the timer, it was the pump. Do you happen to have a front loader? They get small things sucked into the pump all the time. A repairman can check it out for you. Twice mine was fixed by pulling the item out of the pump. The third time required a new pump.
