Have recently had my job description radically altered and feel that new targets are unachievable/unfair. If you have worked for any of the big companies I would love to know what their expectations are. ~~~ bearos3000 ~~~

you are expected to stay below the target. to do that you will have to cheat. the reason that you cant meet the target is usually because you are doing the job you were trained to do. if you cheat you can meet the target, also, if you get caught cheating you will be fired. I worked for the telephone co. and I was never satisfactory in my appraisals because I did the job right. I retired. They cannot fire you if you do the work right as long as you work as fast as you can. The reason the target is so low is because your coworkers (some of them ) are cheaters. they make the target lower than is possible for good employees to achieve. good luck to you.

When I worked for a call centre they didnt actually give an average number of calls but they gave a time limit on the hold button (hold button stops calls from coming through whilst you finish typing something or whatever) we were only allowed 10 Mins HOLD per day. The other 7hrs amp; 20 Mins (as we had 30 min lunch break) we had to answer calls. I absolutely hated it and left. Your treated like robots in call centres - no wonder you end up sounding like one after working there a few days

I worked for BT Directory Enquiries. I was expected to answer each call in less than 25 seconds. I moved on to another call centre where there were no targets as such but you had to answer as quickly as possible. Unfortunately call centres can do what they like. Big sympathy for you.
