Other Canada : How Much Do Driving Lessons Cost In Canada

My boyfriend lives in Canada and is looking at starting driving lessons/doing the first test to start to get his license (sorry, I dont know the process over there, I already have my Australian license). I want to send him some money for him to get started with it. If hes starting at the very beginning, is it lessons first or a test or what? How much would they cost? Sorry. He lives in Oshawa, Ontario. ~~~ Curious Me ~~~

Even maybe give you some web sites. I do know that when I took Young Drivers of Canada, over a decade ago, it cost me around $700. So not worth the small percentage off on insurance.

I would suggest that we need to know what part of this big country your bf lives in ( which of the 10 Provinces ) and the city or town name. The first step is written general knowledge test ( he can buy a book to study from ) then he can start taking classroom lessons, followed by a series of one hour individual in-car driving lessons, with a certified driving instructor. As well he can practise driving with a licensed driver sitting with him in the front seat of the car, on his own time. Usually it takes a year to move thru the learning process, and getting more on the road practical driving experience, than he can apply to take the written test and the all important driving test with a driver examiner. He either pases , or he fails, and has to re0take the test at a later date. Here is an EXAMPLE from the Province of Ontarios driver testing department.
