Other Canada. I Want To Visit Canada For The Summer Where Should I Stay.

I live in America and in the summer of 2008 I am planning to visit Canada and stay there for three months. Staying at a hotel for 3 months is completely out of the question, so where can I stay? I also would like to get a part time job there to help pay for my finances. Is there any advice out there? By the way, I am 18 years old if that helps any. ~~~ Jesse ~~~

Answer 1

Hostels can be found in many parts of Canada. You might also look in classifieds / billboards for people looking to rent out rooms. Campgrounds may be another option. Maybe you meet some cool people who you can shack up with too. There are temp agancies for jobs, lots of construction jobs too. Could look at restaurants or many of the other usual sources. You should visit the west coast Vancouver / Vancouver Island for sure. Alberta Rocky Mountains / Calgary is pretty cool too. The middle of Canada is a bit boring. Toronto is over rated. Quebec is interesting. The East Coast is quite neat also.

Answer 2

I think you need a work visa for this.. if youre 18 why not try to get a student visa. maybe you can work with that. I dont advocate under the table jobs.. but whatever theyre out there I guess. Toronto or Montreal would be your best bet. Toronto is bigger but not as fun and I believe the drinking age is 21. Montreal drinking age is 18.

Answer 3

I would stay at the Novotel North York...nice place been there twice and good service...have a blesed time. God Bless * This is in Toronto by the way..and is about 20 mintues from the airport...

Answer 4

If you are going to work you will need a work visa. Check into that first.

Answer 5

You can try to get a job in Banff over the summer working for one of the hotels or motels there. Although it is known for its skiing, the summer months do have a lot of hikers and golfers. The scenery is fantastic and if you love wildlife, they have elk, foxes, and other animals that can often be seen within the town limits. Another option is in the Maritimes (Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI) which offers great sailing, golfing, fishing, relaxed lifestyle, ocean views, and you can rent space at a campground if you do not want to spend a lot of money at a hotel. Plus the cost of living out there is really low...you may be able to get a deal on a 3 month rental at an apartment. Make sure that you have a passport if you are coming here next summer. According to Homeland Security rules, you will need one to get back in the USA as of Summer 2008, even if just driving across the border.

Answer 6

If you want to work look into seasonal work. The best places for that is in Alberta - Banff, Lake Louise, etc. They have good hotels and restaurants where they have staff accomadations. Also a great tourist spot to look into is Niagara Falls. Lots and lots of jobs. I can give you the names of some places that hire seasonal workers if you want. You will need a place to stay but you can find a decent spot in the Falls pretty cheap. Stay away from big cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto as you will pay a lot to live. Northern Ontario has a lot of places that are resorts with staff living places.
