My sister was a supervisor at a restraunt and so I have a little info for you. When you take the drink order, before you asked them what drinks they want, suggest some that you really do think they may like, briefly telling them why. Just before you are ready to take their order, discuss the appetizers by saying: "You may want to consider one of our (whatever appetizers) I have been told that they are really good. Keep it casual. Make sure there is a desert menu left out for them to look at. Stop by JUST before they are done eating and ask them if they would like tea or coffee. If none do, then wait until they are finished eating. If any order coffee or tea, you can say, let me know if you would like some desert. The (whatever goes very well with coffee, I hear. Good luck

Offer free samples of drinks. Or put extra drinks on the tray when serving, to get the person wanting one. Dont tell the person youre doing this, so theyll attribute it to subconscience.
Answer 2
the only way to do this is while you are having normal conversation with your patrons meke your suggestions with confidence and they usually will agree to do it. you wont appear pushy at all.

Always have a water jug on table so you can ask whether they would like you to fill there glasses and if they say no ask if there is any other beverages they would like. When they first sit with menus offer a specific entree such as a basket of fries or bread tray to tide them over till dinner. Mentioning an actual food rather than a thought from the word entree.

I would welcome the person to a table let them look over the menu then say are you thirsty Can i get you something to drink? then when there finished with there meal i would say how was everything? and if they say great i would recommend them to a desert and ask them if they would like a desert? if they say no dont push it just say okay and go get them their bill. Answer 6
one thing i really hate when i go to restaurants is when the the server comes over for my drink order when im barely even sitting down yet. there are so many times i would probably order something special, but i have a server bugging me before i even look at the menu. if i say i need to look at the drink menu they dont come back for ten minutes and that upsets me even more... so ill just order a coke instead to save time. if you want people to order drinks, make sure the drink menu is prominent on the table and give the people a few minutes to look at it before coming over for their order.
Answer 7

Answer 8
you better use more common sence than that, the people know before they walk in if they are going to drink, apps, etc, if you are a pushy begging salesperson you will get poor tips, i know you have an add on quota but most people dont wanna hear you heavily suggest, you must work at a national chain, everyone national chain i go to beggs us to drink, apps and dessert, it turns me off, no thanks means no thanks, I like local resteraurants, they suggest and thats all, the national chains, demote servers if their add on average isnt high,
