If you dont have enough physical RAM, virtual RAM helps system performance, although accessing VRAM is slower than accessing physical RAM, its better than nothing. Since I dont know what OS youre using, Ill just tell you how to change it in Win2K: Right-click My Computer and select Properties. Click the Advanced tab. Click the Performance Options button. Then click the Change button. It should be set to 1 1/2 to 2 times the amount of RAM you have, depending on the OS youre using. Ive got mine configured to access it from a second hard drive, so it doesnt slow down the performance of the OS hard drive. Ideally, you should install more RAM if you want to increase performance. Short of that, Microsoft gives you the option of virtual memory. Whatever you do, dont reduce it to zero unless youve set it up on another disk. It doesnt like that.

Because sometimes it will be set up to use the VRAM when it is unnecessary and it is slow to do so. I believe the page file is saved in the root directory of whichever partition or drive you selected (or was defaulted to). Likely the C:. Its also like hidden. I may be wrong though. Hope this helps ;)

You can adjust it under systems in control panel. The computer automatically picks the best possible mixture already. However you can change this yourself. The more in virtual machine, the less you have for performance. The more in virtual memory, the more you have of system performance. The more in virtual machine, the more complex programs you can run. The more in virtual memory, the less of complex programs you can run. So it is a trade off.
