Best possible way I can think of is a program called Virtual DJ, you can download a trial copy. When you load an MP3 onto one if the decks you can select Effects at the bottom right hand of the screen and apply an effect that takes out the vocals. Its usually a picture of a guitar. The interface is pretty intuitive so you'll be up and running in no time. The user guide link is /support/VirtualDJ 5 - User%

Answer 1I've actually found and used some software that worked for this type of thing. it's great for practicing vocals, but I wouldn't recommend 're-recording' any new vocals over the old track, but it would work. I believe is was called a 'vocal deharmonizer'. I haven't found much with that search term. Try searching on 'removing vocals from songs' and you will find examples such as this: /contents/download/audio/

Answer 3I know on my laptop (I have Windows Vista) if you go into your speaker settings there is a setting called "Voice Cancellation", and it pretty much drops the vocal lines out of any song you play through your media player. here is how to do it: Click Start Click Control Panel Click Sound Double Click on the speakers your using Click the Enhancements tab Then click the box that is called "voice cancellation" I hope this works for you, its good for a sing along. Good luck.
