They stay sick and they suffer. Great country, isnt it, that world dominant superpower, not. Give me the creaking NHS any day.
Answer 3
No health insurance? youre screwed, ship him to county hospital. Thats how it works.
Answer 4
Yeah they have to die quietly!
Answer 5
badly. Nothing is free, hospitals send out collection notices and ruin your credit when you get sick or injured. Oh, and they kick you out as soon as you are no longer in a "life threatening" situation. So if you are gushing blood they help, otherwise you can buy your bandaids at the store.
Answer 6
The poor cannot afford to be sick or be in accidents.
Answer 7
You cannot be turned away from a hospital regardless of ability to pay. Almost like the NHS only you may have to wait hours instead of weeks.
Answer 8
Or... They go to the hospital and skip out on the bill, which means the rest of us pay for it.
Answer 9
the hospitals charge for a tylenol to people with insurance to pay for those who dont have it.......bottom line you are better off without insurance and go to the ER when you are sick
Answer 10
It dont, the hospitals are mandated to treat these people but that does not say how they treat them, they will get substandard care every time. They will still be charged and if they have anything worth taking the hospital will put a lien on it. The whole system is based on ability to pay. Currently the US is ranked number 1 in cost of health care and number 14th in quality of health care and this is one of the reasons why. World Health Organization if you need a reference
Answer 11
The poor get welfare and their medical is 100% paid for............ Its the ones that are seniors and disabled that because they get social security benefits the government punishes them for getting unearned income ( that they worked to be able to receive.) A woman cam make 600......... and she can get300-500 food stamps and medical, but a person on soc. security and make 600 and they give them maybe in food stamps and not cover medical. Most people on disability are trying to raise children , and it seems more grand parents on soc. security are also. A person on soc disability cant claim the EIC credit for the kids they are raising, But someone on welfare can get 3000-6000 back Thats totally wrong. That money should be returned to the state to pay for their welfare. Im a nurse I work in the home care industry and see the elderly and disabled struggle to pay rent, heating costs and food let alone have the luxury for medical care and meds.
Answer 12
Emergency care is provided but patients get no more care as soon as they are deemed stable. No follow up care, no physio, no rehab. Debt collectors follow later so no home, no credit, no life worth living. America pays twice as much per head for its healthcare system than Britain does.
Answer 13
Emergency rooms do not turn away patients based on their ability to pay or not. Poor people can sign up for public assistance and get help with healthcare. Many are not aware, and/or choose not to. A lot of them have entitlement mentalities and are waiting for the govt to come to them. Well, it aint gonna happen. Youve got to help yourself (., go to the social security office and SIGN UP). Others who are uninsured are that way because they choose to be. Their jobs dont provise it and instead of being personally responsible for insuring themselves, they would rather spend their money on cell phones, vacations, big screen tvs, internet and cable. I know I went off on a little different tangent from your question, but I was addressing some of the whiners on this thread.
