Other Politics Government. What Is A Realistic Solution To The Benefits System.

I dont mean just cut the lot, but something that will look after us should we (god forbid) be made redundant, yet put an end to the dirty, chavvy, scummy, baby machines that seem to live in this world. I hate them yet worry that i will be made redundant in these hard times and my family will get nothing. So what is the solution? ~~~ pie eater ~~~

The benefits system in the UK is basically flawed because it promotes abuse and encourages fraud. Benefits payments are readily available, often for hundred of pounds a week to claimants whose sole purpose in life is to defraud the system so they have an income to spend on fags, booze and drugs They breed children, often sired by multiple fathers, to increase their benefits income, they have no concern for the welfare of the child, whose miserable life ends in care or death. The State is well aware of this but does nothing tangible to cure it, the current efforts to bring offenders to book is complicated, drawn out, enforced by people who really are not suited to the it is so cumbersome that it employs lots of people at the taxpayers best, it sweeps up the mess after the event when its too late and the damage is done. The solution is very simple, cheap, fair, relies on technology, acts as a PREVENTATIVE, means the benefits go to those for whome it is intended and cuts out tons of paper and administration. Every claimant, is given a state "credit card" with a limit set at their weekly allowance, this card can be used as a normal credit card to buy food, clothing, shelter, fares and all the other legitimate products to ensure a families welfare. It cannot be used for fags, booze or exchanged for cash. Its unlikely that the local neighbourhoods drug dealer accepts cards! No cash to be lost, stolen or spent on illegitimate goods. Technology is already widely in use so low set up cost. Watertight system acts as a deterent. Widespread abuse brought to a full stop. AND the money for the sick, old, infirm, genuinely needy currently been taken by fraudsters goes to those in real need. Huge savings for tax payers.

Answer 1

Better training for those "first-jobbers" or those who have been made redundant amp; need to get back into the work market. Having said that, though - if the jobs arent there for these people, then the training is useless.

Answer 2

Your answer is simple. Just dont become a dirty, chavvy, scummy baby machine and your path is clear. Remember, those dirty, chavvy, scummy baby machines that you speak about did not have virgin births. It takes two to tango, and two to create babies. So, if every male and every female carefully look after their own selves, they wont have much time to criticize the lives of others.

Answer 3

the solution is a start no benefits should be given to immigrants at all until they have been here paying taxes for five years. re nationalise every thing including councils and all utilities etc. and after six months of being on the doll you have to work for the state for your money. repairing roads,or they can be used as dustmen, grave diggers and cemetery keepers. school care takers. labour for parks dept. delivering help, meals , gardening for OAPs....there are loads of you dont work, then you starve. its as simple as that. we have to put a bit of balls back into the working age men of Britain. they are more like silly little girls than men. expecting other people to pay their way. where on earth is their pride? its pitiful. Im retired and even i can get a job. theres no excuse. we should not be supporting healthy young men on the doll. stop immigration. and throw all our young men out to work.

Answer 4

In practise this is a very difficult question to answer. Its perfectly obvious to anyone with half a brain that the welfare system is spiralling out of control. One problem is that not only do the welfare recipients benefit but so do those employed in all the jobs dolling out other peoples resources. Benefits encouraging the feckless and poverty stricken masses to produce ever more children frequently by different partners could only have been constructed in a lunatic asylum. The answer to your question I do not know but I think that ultimately it will have to addressed by those who have the power to do something about it. It amazes me that a hard line right wing party can make so little progress in the UK. The longer changes are delayed the more strife will occur when changes HAVE to occur simply because taxes have risen so high the masses start to take violent action, The Poll Tax riots were an example of what IMO is likely to happen.

Answer 5

There are so many things that are going wrong! I think the job centre staff should actually show people who come in the jobs they have, then make some calls on their behalf and arrange meetings - that way, nobody can say they didnt have a chance. After two weeks and no job, then interview them for benefits, but any able-bodied person receiving job seekers allowance must do volunteer work or something. Schools also should install a sense of pride in their students - if the kids have ambitions, something to hope for, then they would find it a lot easier to avoid trouble. Also, we should probably start forcing those that are behind to stay at a summer school. It is not acceptable that kids leave school at sixteen unable to read or write. I also think that schools should be open to the public in the evenings and weekends for classes to teach the parents things like maths, science, cooking etc. Maybe make a small fee, but nothing too expensive, and in the end they should all get a certificate to say what they can do and help them in the job market.

Answer 6

Its easy it just takes balls . No one gets any benefits until they have paid in to NI for at least ten years . No one gets council accommodation unless the work . Either they find a job or the do community service . Single mothers who have never been married only get benefit for the first child . That will do to start with .

Answer 7

Theres not a lot that can be done without persecuting and unfairly penalising the decent, honest, working people who are unfortunate enough to be made redundant, get laid off, unfairly dismissed, or be unable to work because of health problems. One of the major problems is the right that single mothers have to claim Income Support without having to look for a job. These are the people who become baby machines and career welfare claimants. A single mum can claim Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Income Support, Child Tax Credit and Child Benefit. A woman with two kids can get up to about £150 per week (more if one child is classed as disabled) AFTER her housing costs have been paid. How many single working people can honestly say that they have £150 left to spend after theyve paid their rent/mortgage and C. Tax? No wonder these people have no incentive to get a job!! Maybe the Government should provide them with free childcare so they have no excuse not to work. Benefits like Incapacity Benefit and the new ESA (which replaces IB and focusses and getting people back to work), and JSA do come with provisos. If you are on JSA you have to prove you are looking for work. If you are on IB or ESA you have to submit regular sicknotes from your Dr and submit to a 6-12 monthly examination by a DWP doctor. So its actually quite hard to hoodwink this system (unless you are very clever). Genuine people have nothing to fear under this system, as long as you are doing the right thing you will continue to get your money. Its Income Support which is the big problem, many people see it as an "entitlement" without having to "do" anything, ie they dont think they have to be looking for a job or attend medical assessments to receive it. Maybe the Government need to make it clear that you dont get anything for nothing and unless you can prove youre too sick to work or you can prove youre looking for a job you are not "entitled" to anything. I agree that the Jobcentre staff do very little to help people find work. There is poor provision of skills training and in some areas of the country wages are too low and jobs are scarce. EU migration has meant that cheap, easy skilled labour has replaced the need to train up and invest in native Brits. Privatisation has meant that the State has lost the power to actually "employ" people, they instead have to impress the HR Dept of some private company before they can get a job. I would, like Rommel says, re-nationalise pretty much everything.

Answer 8

Actually, the chavvy, scummy, baby machines are doing the right thing. At present there are nearly as many pensioners like myself in UK as there are kids under 16. We need more babies. Why? Because babies are the future and pensioners like me are the past. The real long term solution to the problems within the Welfare State may actually come from encouraging folk to have more kids. Not families of 12, as was the case in my grandparents days in the late 19th and early 20thC but say three kids instead of 2. Why? Because when these kids grow up and go out to work, they will bring more money in to the household, thus helping to reduce the need for benefits. The above is not just my own theory, its one which is doing the rounds in Parliament and amongst the chattering classes, right now. We cannot just continue paying people disability benefits when they ar are not actually disabled, nor can we for reasons of humanity simply take them off benefits without there being a means of them making an income from work. Its a real headache and Im glad Im not a politician with the task of having to come up with a solution, one that works in the long term. The baby boom worked in the late 1940s and early 1950s why not give it another go? Cameron at least is talking of tax incentives for married couples, but how about tax incentives for unmarried couples? Got to do something about that, because lots of people simply do not want to get married, but they still want to have kids. blah!

Answer 10

The Benefits system should be overhauled to provide more financial assistance to the newly unemployed and be based on a minimum level of Tax and NI contributions. It should also be earnings related at least for an initial period of at least 3 months given the average length of time it can take to find a new job. A partial tax refund wouldna€™t be a bad idea either. National Insurance is no longer anything to do with insurance as in provision for a rainy day and new rules along these lines would bring the system back into line with the original concept.
