Other Yahoo Products : How To Terminate A David Lloyd Gym Membership Without Incurring Their Rediculous Payments
I am a member at David lloyds gym where i am currently paying £ a month. This is really starting to put a strain on my finances so i want to move to a cheaper gym. However David Lloyds say you have to give them 3 months written notice and pay for the 3 months which i find a tad unfair. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to get out of this contract without having to give them anymore money? ~~~ Doddsy21 ~~~

Essentially you agreed to (ie entered into) a contract as im sure you are already aware. However you could either be honest with them about your financial situation asking kindly for a relaxation of the term (although I wouldnt hold out to much hope), alternatively if you have only just joined the Gym there may be a "cooling off" period. Alternatively you could look at whether the contract offers the abililty to temporarily freeze your membership and hence payments for say six months if this were to help. Finally unless you can find them to be in any way in breach of contract it will be very difficult to get a costless exit. I dont recomment cancelling the direct debit, this will show as a debt default and will cause you no end of problems further down the line.
