To know the men, you should first look at their lifestyles. On one hand, you have Plato, who hung out almost exclusively with the big guys on society. On the other hand is Socrates, who lived a very simple and humble existence with little luxury. Plato believed that everyone is born with a set position in society that they cannot change. He thought that society should be geared towards helping the very top class. He reasoned that the upper class are superior because of their mastery of the forms. Aristotle skips over social classes and says that there are universal truths that apply to everyone. He thought that the meaning of life was to follow virtue, which he said was also the path to having a content life.
