I have a small travel size cage I purchased for under $10 to sit my mice in while I clean out their cage. I keep them near me while I do it. A ball sounds like a fine solution! When I had hamsters in those balls they would poo and pee in them, though! Then I was left with a really gross ball and trails on the carpet!

If the hamster while in the ball is in an enclosed area and no pets will be there. You will need to occasionly check him so to make sure he didnt get out! Wow you think ahead of time, Christmas is 3 months away right? And im saying that its good you do this, researching is an awesome way to let time by!

Thats what i did when i had hamsters. Now i have rats but thats beside the point. Just make sure there arent any other pets in the room with them. Make sure all the doors are shut and there arent any stairs they can roll down. Also to make sure mine didnt escape i used to ask my mom or one of my siblings to watch the them in the ball while i cleaned it. Hoped i helped u out.

Its okay if you keep the ball really nearby and you can see it. I put my hammy in her ball while I cleaned her cage and she rolled into the next room and then she stopped rolling so I couldnt follow the sound to find her and I nearly panicked! Ill never do that again! Plus, youd probably want to clean the cage pretty quickly, cause you shouldnt leave the hammy in the ball too long. Especially the first few times you put him him in. If you need another place to put him, you can put the plug in the drain of the bathtub (make sure its in there tight enough that its impossible for the hammy to yank it out!!) and you let the little guy run around in the clean, dry bathtub. But youd still need to keep a close eye on him, cause you never know what could happen. Or you could put him in some kind of deep bucket with some bedding in it and that would be easy to keep near you so you can peek in at hime. Good luck!!

heres what i do: i put her in the ball and just have someone supervise her so she doesnt go down stairs or anything. its easy and they are happy.
