Rodents : What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Hamster
I have a hamster who is 4 and one-half years old (his birthday concides with Christmas). Hes becoming quite feeble and disorientated Im beginning to think he may require a noctural living skills center. Does anyone recommend a night nurse or should I let nature take its course and allow a natural passing? ~~~ Douglas G ~~~
Best Answer To Rodents Question
You should let nature take its course. He is very old for a hamster already and its sounds like he has had a great life. Normally they pass in their sleep, peacefully and with no pain.

Ur Great. The Other person was right. The life expectancy is 2-3 years. Your story is almost like my guinea pig. It lived for about 4 years and was only supposed to live for about 2 1/2 years. You must be doing a great job!!!

Wow, thats one old hamster you have there, he must of been well looked after. Hamsters in general live between 2 - 3 years, but are so vunrable to various illnesses and infections that alot dont even make it that far, so well done. The symptoms could well be old age, but that still not a reason not to take your hamster to the vet.

he has outlived many of his relatives, allow a natural passing unless he is in pain. most only make it 2-3 years, less for a dwarf.
