In most of the Wimbledon tournaments, one, because it is a straight knockout. However the veteran doubles players have a round robin group stage, with two groups of four doubles teams, and only the top team in each group makes the final. This makes it theoretically possible for a team to lose a match and still qualify from the group (if three teams beat the bottom team and then win one and lose one against the other two, so the three top teams have all won two, lost one, and are then separated by percentage of games won), then they can lose the final too, so they can get knocked out having lost twice.

haha, i guess you are not a big fan of tennis. Let me tell you, in tennis (not just wimbledon but every tournament as well) if you lose a match youre out. Maybe youre confused with another sport, but theres not counting of points at the end of the week. What players have to do in order to reach the final is winning every single match they play, because if they dont theyll be out. I hope this is useful for you, bye :)
