Toddler Preschooler : How Do You Make A Child Themed Party Fun For Adults
I am planning my daughter's first birthday party, either a princess or hawaiian-florally theme. I can find many things for children to keep them entertained, but not for adults. I want the adults to enjoy the party as well. Any gift bags or games etc ideas would be helpful.... I meant about the gift bags: What kind of goodies could I provide for the adults, as well as children in them? Games: I meant for the children...I had a thought about the older children making playdoe flowers for the floral party... ~~~ ycatstouch ~~~

If you go for a Hawaiian-florally theme here are a few games for kids and adults: Limbo Have limbo contests one for the adults and one for kids. Tacky Tourist Relay (again could be one for adults and one for kids) Put together two similar, but not identical sets of "tourist gear" containing items like a beach hat, sunglasses, lei, hula skirt, shorts, aloha shirt or muumuu, flip flops, snorkel, pail and shovel, camera on a strap, etc. Divide guests into two teams. Everyone begins at a start/finish line. First person runs to the pile of tourist gear, put on one item, then run back to start/finish line and passes the item on the second person. Once the second person has the tourist gear on they run down to the pile and put on another item, run back to start/finish and pass both items the next person. Each person takes a turn until the first person wearing ALL the tourist gear and crosses the start/finish line. Take LOTS of pictures. Make Volcanoes This is good for kids or adult kids. Make volcanoes out of modeling clay. Then in the center (a deep whole in the middle) add baking soda and pour in some vinegar to create an "eruption"! You can go to Oriental Trading (on-line) and they have TONS of knick-knacks reasonable priced for gift bags or goodies. Answer 1maybe not games....after the party of your daugther you can party with the adults afterwards....talking, drinking, etc. etc.
Answer 2You'll be surprised how much adults enjoy games and such. Get them involved in the kids games.
Answer 3Say no gifts on the invites. Thats sooooo boring to watch - especially for other toddelers.. As for the 1 year old bd's Ive had to endure, Ive either been so busy watching my own kid in a someone else's house, the only entertainment I had was chatting with the other moms, and that was plenty. Id say just make sure to have good food for adults too. Maybe even drinks.
Answer 4- Come up with games/activity for the kids that they can do on their own, with just the adults supervising. Like get one of those bouncy blow-up castles/tents that they can jump around or play with balls in while the adults can sit around nearby and chat, watch some tv or play some cards or something. - Also pick a game or two that everyone can get involved in. Depends on the age of the children, but something like bucket or ring tossing, karaoke or a magacian can be enjoyed by everyone. - Invite children with mothers/fathers that are fun. - With very young children, keep the party short. Partying with tired, cranky, moody children is no fun, so try to end the party well before the sleepy blues (and thus the fussing and crying) kicks in.

I threw a 5th birthday party for our daughter, princess theme, invited adults and children, I've been uploading my pictures of the party and the ideas i used on this site, but i'm not done, i'll finish posting ideas/pictures by day's end. but, we invited friends and their families, bec. we had ours on a weekend (which I understand is family time) and younger siblings get jealous. we had simple games for the children. and for the adults we had lunch (we had ours at lunch time), and wine. so people could eat, relax, feel comfortable. i don't think parents like playing games, just my thought. but give them food and drinks and hire a babysitter to supervise their kids and they will have an hour or two to themselves with other adults :). we also wrote on the invitations for girls to come as princesses and boys as princess, and the kids all had a great time dressing up for the party ... /parties/section/26/action/view/party/1
